Five Stars!
Jodi Picoult uses the same recipe for just about every one of her books: take a controversial issue, take it to court, and read it from different points of view. A lot of authors may not be able to make this work, but it works for Picoult. Sing You Home is no exception.
This also isn’t the first Jodi Picoult book that made me cry at the end. The entire book was both beautiful and tragic.
The difference here is that this book came with a soundtrack to go with each chapter. I listened to the first few songs of the CD until I just couldn’t stand it anymore. The lyrics are perfect, akin to that of Melissa Etheridge. The singing is more akin to choking a cat, in my opinion. Even my cats didn’t like it.
But the music is only supposed to add to the experience of the book, to bring Zoe to life for us. It’s not really necessary, but it’s there.
So if you’re a Jodi Picoult fan, this book will not disappoint. If you haven’t read her books, yet, now is a good time to start. ;)
